How we're making training with us safe

Lots has changed since we were last in touch but that doesn't mean we haven't been busy!
Our team is working really hard making sure our training centres continue to be safe and are ready to take care of you and your teams.

When will we be open for training?

Our training centres across Wales are open from Wednesday July 1st adhering to strict Welsh Government guidance.

The safety of our students is paramount and so if the Welsh Government advice changes, we will support this.

Further advice we will be following includes:

Public Health Wales
Health & Safety Executive

Paediatric First Aid Certificate Extended

How will we be keeping you safe?

We've implemented the following measures to ensure you and your delegates will be safe in our training centres:

Anyone with symptoms of Covid-19 will be asked to not attend training - A free transfer to a future course will be provided

Hand sanitiser is readily available - all entering our centres will be asked to use
We may check your temperature before you enter our classrooms - making sure everyone is well and able to take part
Implemented strict social distancing measures - will be in place at all times
Reduced student numbers - making social distancing easier
Staggered break times - limiting the amount of people mixing
Maintaining rigorous manikin cleaning - all manikins contain a one way valve
Each student will have their own manikin for CPR practise - reducing the potential for cross contamination
Continuing to provide gloves - for relevant training sessions
Our trainers will remain socially distant from students
Face coverings will not be provided - however you are welcome to bring your own should you feel more comfortable

My certificate has expired or is about to, what can I do?

The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has announced that First aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work certificates which expired on, or after the 16 March, and you were unable to access training to requalify due to the coronavirus outbreak, the validity of these certificates can be extended to 30 September*. (We anticipate this may be extended in Wales)

The extension only applies so long as you are able to:

  • Explain why you haven’t been able to requalify.
  • Demonstrate what steps you took to access the training, if asked to do so.

You should book onto requalification training as soon as you are able.

The above is in line with HSE guidance.

What can I do to refresh my skills before I attend my next training course?

Our friends at St John Ambulance in England are giving first aiders free access to their online e-learning First Aid at Work annual update course for a limited time.

The e-learning course will help first aiders keep on top of their first aid skills, refresh their knowledge either in the workplace or at home until our face-to-face training courses resume.

Please note: The e-learning course doesn't replace or update your current qualification. You will still need to complete your requalification course for a new and valid certificate.
